I don't use photoshop or other software to tinker with (read: fix) my pictures. I'm pretty much a purist there. I either got the shot I wanted or I didn't (and if I didn't, you'll never know about it.)
But I did find a little fun app the other day and ended up with this sketchy version of one of my favorite Facebook avatars.
It was taken back in August, 2005 at one of my favorite places in the world: Bellows Beach on Oahu. We stay in a cabin there - far too rarely. We are hoping to get one for when the kids bring the grands this summer. It's a challenge, because active duty get first dibs. As well they should!! I don't begrudge them one hard-earned minute.
Still, keeping my fingers crossed.
Here's the real photo:
Oh, and if you followed "Hurley" through Dispatches from the Island, you might recognize those islands in the distance.

i love bellows beach!! we spent hours there when we were last in hawaii for my grandparents 50th anniversay its such a nice clean beach since ts free of so many tourist
i also thought some of the scences of lost were shot at bellows i figure it was probably easier to shoot there, because again, the lack of tourist.
We just nailed down 3 nights for the family! Yay!!
I agree about Lost...some of the stuff looked like it had to be shot around Bellows. It's been fun playing the "where are they shooting THAT?" game for the last 6years. Especially since they shot practically every single scene here on Oaho!
I bet you do that with Seattle in TV shows and the movies, too. (But they shoot Gray's on soundstages in LA don't they? Hardly any exterior work at all.)
But most of Lost's beach shooting was done up past Dillingham on the North Shore...more isolated and undeveloped. Not hard to keep people out once that road ends!
I don't know if you remember a lot about that upper North Shore area, but the Others' little yellow houses? Camp Erdman and a little CGI!
That's Oahu, not Oaho. Sleep deprevation - killer of braincells.
I've always liked that photo. I've never had the time or resources to get into the photo enhancing.
I miss LOST.
always loved that photo too - and the sketch is really cool! Someday.......hopefully!!
oh and YAY for getting the 3 nights nailed!!!!!
Just checking to see if I can post here. I'm having a terrible time with Google passwords.
OK, now I can say that I have always loved your beach picture and think that the sketch is really cute!
