Geometries

The dome in British Columbia's Parliament building. Attending a session of Parliament isn't everyone's idea of a great tourist attraction, but it really was interesting...of course they were debating a very hot labor issue so that helped amp up the excitement factor by about 100%.

Ellis Island

A museum with a soul-stirring kick...what people went (and still go) through to get what I was simply born with.

Not your usual Manhattan shot...

See the Lady in the distance (hint...far right)

Sun don't have to shine...

Some folks think that the best photos require the best weather. Sometimes the rainy gray days are even better. Seize the moment!

Layers and textures

I loved this picture. We're on the Isle of Skye, in Scotland and had stopped at a local pub for a pint (or two) before heading up to Ardmorn for the night.

Some days are just created perfect

This was one of them...casually motoring on the Firth of Clyde. No agenda, no purpose. Just family and friends together, enjoying the moments one by one.

I love museums!!

I love them as much for the architecture as for the contents, sometimes.

Remembrance

We took some friends from Oz to Pearl Harbor. Must be my 15th trip there, but it's always worth it. The weather was spectacular and I went looking for some new camera angles. This one felt particularly good.

A capsule history of water transport on the island...from outrigger canoe to ocean liner.

Passages

On our vacation, I found myself with several interesting photos of doors and gateways. These are my favorites, in Barcelona, Eze and Sidi Abou Said.

Inner space...or outer space?

Hmmmm....these jellyfish at the Georgia Aquarium look like they'd be equally at home either way.

Frosty Fairyland

Fog off the water settles on the "stick trees" of winter and the resulting hoarfrost turns an Anchorage landscape into something out of The Chronicles of Narnia. Breathtaking.

JNU on final

Juneau is pretty quaint and photogenic anyway, but never more so than from the air. It's a "Give it up to God" kind of airport, for both take offs and landings, since Juneau sits in a bowl of mountains, but that makes for some awesome scenery.

This was taken on 1/16/2006, landing.

Spaceship on our ship

The artwork in the atrium of the ms Volendam is very Close Encounters modern.

Here, there be dragons!

Long Son Pagoda in Vietnam had a bit of everything...including dragons.

My happy place

This scene is so peaceful...the beach near Kaaawa. We were taking mom to the Crouching Lion for dinner, and it had been raining all week. The sun was setting over my shoulder and just leaving this gentle path on the water.

Weather or UFO?

Looking out the window of my hotel room in Anchorage, I saw this amazing weather cell forming over Elmendorf AFB...looked like something off the SciFi channel.

Greased Lightning

Went to a craft fair and found a vintage auto show in the parking lot. Love the colors on this one.
